Alexander Stalmatsky (Senior Consultant) Alexander worked with Professor Buteyko for over 14 years and was amongst his first practitioners to teach the method in Russia. He became famous for successfully dealing with the most difficult of cases and attracted large numbers of students. Professor Buteyko awarded him with two diplomas, one citing him as a practitioner of highest qualification. In the 1990's Professor Buteyko sent Alexander to Australia wherein he demonstrated his skills in reversing a diverse range of chronic ailments. He initially focused on asthma and the results recieved enormous publicity, including the first published medical trials outside of Russia, of what became known as the Buteyko Method. Alexander trained the first generation of Western Buteyko Practitioners, including a small contingent that went on to be accredited by Professor Buteyko. see The Stalmatsky collection of videos Vladimir Sukhonosov PhD (Senior Consultant) Vladimir commenced his training with Professor Buteyko in 1979 to treat his allergies and a heart condition. He left his position as the head of the mathematical faculty of the University of Kemerove to work and train under Alexander Stalmatsky, Dr Shevelev and Sergei Luzgin – giving workshops all over the Soviet Union. In 1985 he received his diploma from Professor Buteyko who appointed him to manage the vast Kuszbass region (Eastern Siberia) wherein he supervised workshops for thousands of people in factories, chemical plants and mining operations. He became one of the most experienced Russian Buteyko Practitioners – with a particular interest in complex and serious disorders. He also practiced in the UK for five years. Christopher Drake (Senior Practitioner) Christopher was the first "Western" practitioner to receive diploma accreditation from Professor Buteyko, whilst under the supervision of his teacher Alexander Stalmatsky. In 1991, he co-founded the first authorized Buteyko Clinic in "West", in Sydney, Australia and participated in the first published medical trials. He introduced the method to the UK in 1996, wherein his results attracted major publicity. He has taught over 15,000 students in Australia, UK, US, Europe and Asia. He divides his time between Europe and Asia. Jac Vidgen (Senior Practitioner) Jac started training with Alexander Stalmatsky in Sydney, Australia in 1993 and was one of the first "Western" practitioners to be awarded diploma accreditation from Professor Buteyko. Jac introduced the method to Asia, wherein his results attract regular publicity. He conducts workshops in Hong Kong and the Philippines. Martha Roe (Associate Practitioner) Martha became involved with Buteyko in 2007 to treat her chronic fatigue, and did so well at mastering the method personally and reversing her health problems, she was invited to train as a practitioner by her teacher, Christopher Drake. Martha regularly holds workshops in the UK and has developed a solid practice built on excellent results and has assisted in the treatment of numerous severe health conditions. |
Professor Buteyko awarded official diplomas after a practitioner had worked under supervision and managed to successfully treat some thousands of cases. Furthermore a student could not even embark on practitioner training until they had personally mastered his method to a high degree. In the West, this is not generally the case - some Buteyko Practitioners have merely done a theoretical course over a few weeks or months - often given by someone who is also barely qualified. Whilst these practitioners surely have the best of intentions - and can possibly successfully treat some mild health problems, they can only use a fraction of the method and only obtain a fraction of the results from Buteyko's techniques. We make this point not as some kind of attempt to be superior, but in the hope that Professor Buteyko's extraordinary approach to reversing chronic disease is not diluted by poor quality results.
